Nowra: Multiple men arrested after alleged coastal break ins

A number of people have been arrested, following investigations into multiple break ins along the NSW south coast.

A number of people have been arrested and charged for allegedly breaking into homes on the NSW south coast.

The arrests come amid a police investigation into increased break and enters in the Nowra region.

Officers attached to the South Coast Police District Proactive Crime Team, South Region Enforcement Squad and the Dog Unit executed a search warrant on a home on East St, Nowra on Tuesday.

The search led to three men aged 17, 23 and 34 being arrested.

During the search warrant, police seized a number of allegedly stolen items from the home.

The 23-year-old man was charged with breach of bail, while the 34-year-old man was charged with an outstanding warrant and hinder or resist police officer in execution of duty.

Meanwhile, the teenager was charged with two outstanding warrants.

The two adults were refused bail and faced the Nowra Local Court on Wednesday, while the 17-year-old was also refused bail and fronted the Children’s Court the same day.

Investigations are ongoing.

In a separate incident, in the early hours of Sunday August 1, a Macleans Point Rd, Sanctuary Point, home was broken into and a gaming console, iPad, wallet and handbag were allegedly stolen.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended and seized CCTV.

Following inquiries, about 10.30am on Tuesday, September 3, officers attached to South Coast Police District arrested a 38- year-old man in Moona Creek Rd, Vincentia.

He was taken to Nowra Police and charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – people there.

The 38-year-old was refused bail and will appear in Nowra Local Court on Tuesday, October 29.

Police will allege in court the man entered the home via an unlocked door.

The arrests come amid a recent crime wave in the Nowra region, from stolen cars to break ins, which has left residents “distressed”.

South Coast Police District Commander, Superintendent Darren Brand, reminded locals of the importance of locking homes and vehicles to reduce the risk of becoming a target for would be offenders.

“The best protection from becoming a victim of opportunistic thieves is to lock your doors and windows and lock your vehicles. Don’t leave valuables in plain sight, or spare keys out. Where possible install CCTV as a deterrent,” he said.

“Officers in the South Coast Police District and the Bay and Basin area are passionate about keeping their communities safe.

“We will continue to work with the community and proactively patrol areas where there are higher rates of reported incidents of crime.”
