A man has been busted allegedly dealing illegal tobacco around a NSW south coast town across multiple months, with the alleged offences seeing him wind up in court.
Nigel Harding, 45, first faced the Batemans Bay Local Court on May 30, after he was arrested and charged with two counts of dealing with property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
The Mogo man, who returned to court on Monday, is yet to be enter pleas.
Police allege Harding was dealing illegal tobacco products around the Batemans Bay region across five months, according to documents tendered to the court.
The documents allege Harding first began dealing the illegal tobacco products on January 25.
Following investigations by the South Coast Police District into illegal tobacco dealing, Harding was arrested on May 29.
The 45-year-old man was granted bail in the Batemans Bay Local Court the next day.
In the same court on Monday, Harding’s lawyer, Ihab Jamal, asked for an adjournment before any pleas could be entered, noting the police facts needed to be negotiated.
Mr Jamal suggested this could take upwards of seven weeks, but he suggested pleas would be entered on the next appearance.
The suggestion was not opposed by magistrate Doug Dick, who said, given the seriousness of the allegations, negotiations could take place.
Harding will return to Batemans Bay Local Court on August 12, when pleas are expected to be entered.
The Mogo man will remain on bail.
