A woman accused of killing a young man while driving dangerously and negligently on the NSW south coast last year has denied the allegations in court.
Michelle Anne Zutt, 46, will head to trial in the Bega District Court next year, after allegedly killing 23-year-old Jacob Peck near Moruya in a multi-vehicle crash.
The Moruya woman faced Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday – more than a year since Mr Peck’s death – pleading not guilty to dangerous driving occasioning in death and negligent driving occasioning in death.
Zutt’s pleas come more than a year after the multi-vehicle accident on July 4, 2023.
Police allege the fatal crash occurred on Mossy Point Rd outside Moruya on the Tuesday evening.
It’s alleged the 23-year-old man was driving his own car when Zutt crashed into him while allegedly driving dangerously.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of the Princes Hwy and Old Mossy Point Rd at Bimbimbie – 15km south of Batemans Bay – where Mr Peck was found deceased at the scene.
Zutt was treated by paramedics before being taken to the Moruya Hospital with minor injuries.
She was charged a month later following investigations.
Zutt appeared in Batemans Bay Local Court in person on Monday, surrounded by supporters, while her lawyer read out her pleas on her behalf.
It was during this appearance her lawyer indicated the matter would be proceeding to trial sometime next year, with a date needing to be set.
Magistrate Doug Dick said the trial would take place in the Bega District Court.
Zutt’s matter will return on September 18 when a trial date will be determined.
