South Coast Police were attending a home on Quiberon St about 8pm on Sunday when a man allegedly attempted to remove a metal lockbox from the bedroom, after the occupants had been ordered to leave.
The 24-year-old allegedly attempted to flee but was detained after a short scuffle with police.
A search of the box revealed a cache of illicit weapons, including two modified gel blasters, a homemade single shot .22 calibre pistol, two electronic stun devices, ammunition, and a blade concealed within a credit card.
Several mobile phones and numerous forms of identification believed to have been stolen were also seized.
A subsequent search of the property early Monday morning revealed a further two gel blaster firearms, a large quantity of various calibre ammunition, homemade electronic stun devices, and capsicum spray.
The man was taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with 11 offences, including five counts of possessing an unauthorised pistol, possessing more than three unregistered firearms, prohibited pistol – serious indictable offence, possessing ammunition without holding licence or permit, three counts of possession or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and resisting officer in execution of duty.
He was refused bail to appear before Nowra Local Court on Monday.
