Lachlan Stuckey, of North Nowra, mentioned in Goulburn Local Court year after horror Tarago crash

A young man has fronted court nearly one year after a crash left his girlfriend and two friends dead in rural NSW, with police alleging he was driving dangerously with a suspended licence at the time.

A young man has fronted court nearly one year after a crash left his girlfriend and two friends dead in rural NSW, with police alleging he was driving dangerously with a suspended licence at the time.

Lachlan Stuckey, 22, was charged with three counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, driving with an illicit drug present in blood, and driving with a suspended licence after the devastating crash on July 28 last year.

The North Nowra man’s charges – of which he is yet to enter pleas – came after the vehicle rolled at the intersection of Bungendore and Collector roads at Tarago, killing Stuckey’s girlfriend, Charlie Quinn, 18, and his two friends, Brooke Sorlie and Aaron French – both 20.

Stuckey survived and managed to escape the wreckage before he was taken to Canberra Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

He was later arrested and charged following investigations, but was granted condition bail which he remains on.

The court previously heard the group was travelling home to the South Coast from Canberra after a weekend away when tragedy struck.

Nearly one year later, Stuckey’s case was mentioned in Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday, where it was revealed by NSW DPP prosecutor, Simone Foggo, the case would be ready for committal at the next appearance.

Magistrate Theo Tsadaridis heard pleas would be entered soon after, with negotiations between defence and the prosecution ongoing.

Stuckey’s case was adjourned to July 23.

The young man’s mention comes after tributes poured in for the young lives lost.

Ms Sorlies’ sister, Layla Sorlie, previously told this publication she missed her “beautiful, kind and caring” friend.

“She was loved by many and will be dearly, dearly missed,” she said.

Ms Quinn’s father, Scott Quinn, remembered his daughter as “the light of our lives”.

“We are heartbroken and sending our love to all the families involved in this absolute tragedy,” he said.
