A woman is defending charges relating to the alleged theft of a cash redemption machine with several thousand dollars in cash inside of it from a South Coast country club.
Kyralee Teale, 28, appeared in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, pleading not guilty to recklessly dealing with proceeds of crime and receiving stolen property.
Police allege Teale and two men — Joshua Hicks, 27, and Adam O’Connell, 36 — stole an ATM-style cash redemption machine from Catalina Country Club on Beach Rd, Batemans Bay, just before 5am on September 29.
The alleged theft came weeks after a Caterpillar excavator and grapple hitch were allegedly stolen from a quarry on Federal Hwy at Sutton on September 1.
Detectives found the excavator and attachments — believed to be worth $150,000 — during a search at a Yass River property two days later.
Police allege the Catalina Country Club theft – weeks later – involved the same two men, Hicks and O’Connell.
Teale is not accused of the excavator theft.
About an hour after the alleged club theft, officers stopped Hicks and O’Connell on the Princes Hwy at Cullendulla.
Hicks allegedly fled, sparking a foot chase through Surfside, before the men were arrested and taken to Batemans Bay Police Station.
Teale was arrested shortly after on Wallarah St, Surfside, with police alleging she helped Hicks evade capture.
A search of the three allegedly uncovered $59,000 in cash.
Hicks – who is yet to enter pleas – has been charged with aggravated break and enter, destroying property, knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime, possessing an unauthorised firearm, ammunition and prohibited drugs, and resisting police.
O’Connell – also yet to enter pleas – faces 15 charges including aggravated break and enter, stealing a motor vehicle, damaging property with fire, and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
He has been refused bail and is due back in Batemans Bay Local Court on December 1.
Teale, who was granted bail after her arrest, has denied any role in the alleged club theft.
Solicitor Julie Abood sought an adjournment while discussions continue.
Magistrate Susan McGowan granted the request, adjourning the case to December 1, alongside Hicks.
