A tech giant, a camping franchise and a clothing franchise are set to give an abandoned shop on the south coast new life.
JB HI FI, Anaconda and TK Maxx will be moving into the old Masters Building in South Nowra, with the brands advertising jobs for their new stores online.
A JB HI FI spokesperson said they were excited to be bringing their shopfront to the regional town.
“Nowra is a fast growing regional town, and we are excited to be opening our store to provide for the community,” the spokesperson said.
The old Masters warehouse has remained empty in the town for years, with rumours constantly flying about what could happen to the site.
In 2017, NSW Regional Planning discussed the possibility of subdividing the property into seven shop fronts, however discussions began and ended there, with the building remaining empty since.
Now, in 2023, the store is finally being brought back to life.
Deputy Mayor for the Shoalhaven, Paul Ell, said these new brands were perfect for the growing town.
“The old Masters site has had enormous potential and it was a shame to see it sitting vacant,” he said.
“I know the community will be excited to see new retail offerings coming to Nowra.”
Mr Ell also said the new stores would be perfect for the Shoalhaven economy.
“This will mean residents will spend more of their money locally, rather than travelling to Shellharbour and Wollongong,” he said.
While JB HI FI sells technology, kitchen appliances, entertainment appliances, music and more, Anaconda will provide the south coast community with camping goods and 4WD items.
Meanwhile, TK Maxx will provide the community with clothing and homewares.
The stores are on track to open in the town in late 2023 according to online job advertising.
