A man allegedly caught with explosives, illegal guns, firearm parts and other weapons during a statewide police blitz has appeared before court.

Jarred Ayers, 52, fronted Nowra Local Court in person on Tuesday, months after detectives raided his Culburra Beach home as part of Strike Force Temarang on January 15.

The strike force was established in a bid to crush the illegal importation and private manufacturing of firearms and firearm parts across NSW.

Court documents allege police first noticed of Ayers in December 2024, after it was reported he allegedly purchased and imported equipment suitable for the manufacture of firearms.

On January 15 2025, strike force detectives and the Raptor Squad raided Ayers’ home and allegedly uncovered 10 registered firearms, five unregistered firearms, 6000 rounds of ammunition, a trip wire, knuckle duster, small amount of drugs, more than 100 fireworks, and evidence he was allegedly manufacturing firearm suppressors.

Ayers was initially refused bail following his arrest, however strict bail conditions were granted earlier this year allowing him to appear in court in person.

Magistrate Lisa Viney did not oppose the request, adjourning Ayers’ case to May 9.
