A man accused of serious domestic violence charges is set to fight the allegations in a hearing after pleading not guilty.
Gareth Hartas, 38, fronted Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday facing a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and a backup charge of common assault.
The Tuggeranong, ACT man has pleaded not guilty to the offences.
The court heard on Monday Hartas allegedly attacked someone close to him.
Police allege the assault occurred in the Batemans Bay region in May this year.
Hartas was arrested following investigations into the alleged assault, however he remains in the community after conditional bail was granted on May 14.
The 38-year-old appeared in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday represented by Sarah Higgs, who entered pleas on her client’s behalf.
She told the court and Magistrate Doug Dick of Hartas’ intent to fight the allegations in a hearing, which is expected to run for two hours.
Mr Dick adjourned the case for hearing in the same court on September 18.
Hartas’ bail continues.
