A newborn baby fatally attacked by two rottweilers was lying in a bouncer on the floor when the dogs attacked her without anyone witnessing it.

The five-week-old child was with her parents at a relative’s house in Moruya, on the NSW south coast, when the shocking incident happened on Saturday night.

Sometime around 10.30pm, one of the baby’s parents found her with horrific head and facial injuries.

Paramedics and police were called to the Hawdon St property, but it’s understood the family made the decision to rush to the child to Moruya Hospital themselves to save time.

The baby girl died on Sunday morning from massive head injuries.

The distraught parents told police their baby was being constantly supervised throughout the night while she was in the bouncer, and that the dogs were coming and going from the house without incident.

The dogs, which have been seized by local council rangers, belong to a cousin of one of the child’s parents.
