A 79-year-old South Coast man has been charged after allegedly setting fire to a house with a person inside in an alleged act of domestic violence.

A 79-year-old South Coast man has been charged after allegedly setting fire to a house with a person inside in an alleged act of domestic violence.
Emergency services were called to Coachwood Ave, Worrigee, about 5.45am on June 9 following reports a house was engulfed in flames.
Responding firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze, but the property was destroyed.
Fortunately, the 27-year-old occupant inside the home at the time escaped without injury.
South Coast Police District officers established a crime scene and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire.
Following inquiries, officers arrested a 79-year-old man at a home on Sanctuary Point Rd, Sanctuary Point, about 10.30am Monday.
He was taken to Bay and Basin Police Station and charged with damaging property by fire (DV), and possess or use prohibited weapon without permit.
He was granted bail to appear in Nowra Local Court on Wednesday, July 9.
