A woman accused of attempted rape, bashing and stealing has faced court a year on from the alleged incident.

A woman who was arrested after allegedly physically assaulting and attempting to rape someone, before later stealing their phone and cash, has faced court after more than 12 months since the alleged assault.
Cheryl Lee Harrison, 43, appeared in Nowra District Court on Friday, charged with reckless wounding, inflict actual bodily harm with intent to have sexual intercourse without consent, aggravated steal from person and use corporal violence.
The Nowra woman is yet to enter pleas to the litany of offences.
Documents tendered to the court allege Harrison assaulted another adult female last year in Nowra.
Police allege the assault was serious enough to cause bodily harm to the woman, while Harrison also allegedly attempted to have sexual intercourse with her without consent.
It is alleged the woman fought back, with Harrison also accused of stealing a phone – a Samsung Galaxy S22, valued at $799 – and $50 cash, before allegedly assaulting her once more and fleeing the scene.
Officers attached to the South Coast Police District commenced an investigation into alleged assault and attempted rape, before the 43-year-old Nowra woman was arrested on March 19 last year.
She was refused bail the same day at the Nowra Police Station and has remained in custody at the South Coast Correctional Centre since.
In Nowra District Court on Friday, Magistrate Lisa Viney urged Harrison’s legal team and prosecution to move forward with the case.
“It really needs to move because this has been ongoing for 12 months,” Ms Viney said.
Harrison’s lawyer, Linda Gough, agreed however informed the court important negotiations needed to be finalised.
Ms Gough asked for an adjournment of three weeks, which was not opposed by Ms Viney.
Harrison’s matter will return to the Nowra District Court on May 10 where she is expected to enter pleas.
