A South Coast woman has denied grabbing a knife and stabbing her partner in the arm in an alleged domestic dispute.

Monique Simpson pleaded not guilty to the domestic violence offence of reckless wounding in Nowra Local Court on Wednesday and was represented by solicitor Brett Ford.

The 44-year-old woman’s charge stems from an alleged incident in Berry on the evening of April 12 this year, when she allegedly stabbed her 49-year-old male partner at a property Parker Cr.

Emergency services were called to the scene following reports of the alleged violent altercation, where they found the Simpson’s partner suffering a stab wound to his left arm.

Court documents state he was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.

One hour later, Simpson was arrested at the scene and taken to Nowra Police Station where she was charged and initially refused bail by police.

Simpson’s case was first heard in Parramatta Local Court the next day, where acting Magistrate Peter Robinson granted bail.

The Berry woman appeared in Nowra Local Court on Wednesday, where a not guilty plea was entered.

Mr Ford told the court his client’s case would move to a hearing, with the circumstances surrounding the allegations resulting in an estimated proceeding time of “about four hours”.

Ms Viney adjourned Simpson’s case for further mention and to set a hearing date for May 7.
