Batemans Bay, Queanbeyan: Ordie Olah and Alexander Teodorowych charged in South Coast gun probe

Two men have been charged as part of a police probe into the alleged manufacture and importation of privately made guns – including 3D-printed weapons – across the NSW South Coast and beyond.

Two men have been charged after police allegedly uncovered 3D-printed firearms, illegal weapons and a mushroom lab during separate raids on the South Coast and Southern Tablelands.

The arrests come as part of Strike Force Temarang, a statewide crackdown targeting the manufacture and importation of privately made guns – including 3D-printed weapons – and associated software and parts.

In the first bust about 6.25am Friday, police stopped Ordie Olah, 25, on George Bass Dr, Lilli Pilli.

A short time later, detectives raided his nearby home on Currawong St, Malua Bay, allegedly seizing a 3D-printed Glock-style pistol, 3D printers, ammunition and electronics.

They also allegedly found a functioning mushroom cultivation set up and items consistent with a clandestine drug lab, prompting specialist chemical police and NSW Fire and Rescue to dismantle it.

Olah was arrested and charged with firearm and ammunition offences, including possessing a gun while subject to a prohibition order, possess unauthorised firearm, possess ammunition, and acquire firearm part subject to order.

He is yet to enter pleas, and was refused bail at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.

Olah reappeared in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday for a second attempt at bail, where prosecutor Cory Ware stressed the seriousness of the alleged offending.

Mr Ware also noted charges in relation to the alleged mushroom lab were pending.

Magistrate Doug Dick ultimately refused bail, citing full time custody was a likely outcome.

“His criminal history is certainly building with 16 offences on there now,” Mr Dick said.

Olah will return to Batemans Bay Local Court on July 28 where his case will be referred to the DPP.

However, Olah was not the only man arrested as part of the mega sting, with detectives also storming a property on Norton Rd, Wamboin, allegedly seizing six guns – three believed to be homemade – along with suspected gun parts, electronics, cannabis and ammunition.

Alexander Teodorowych, 34, was arrested and charged with multiple firearm and drug offences.

He too is yet to enter pleas, and was also refused bail in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.

Teodorowych fronted Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday, where bail was again refused.

Investigations through Strike Force Temarang – led by the Drug and Firearms Squad, with support from federal partners including the Department of Home Affairs and AFP Forensic Intelligence – are ongoing.
