A Central Coast glamour couple will spend the weekend behind bars after they were charged with allegedly organising an aggravated break and enter in retaliation for stealing steroids, a court has heard.

A Central Coast glamour couple, accused of being the architects in a violent home invasion, will spend the weekend behind bars after a Newcastle Local Court judge rejected their lawyers bid to make a bail application.

Police allege Hayden Brindle, 29, and girlfriend Shaylee Cheal, 25, organised and had prior knowledge of an aggravated break at enter at a home in Hamlyn Terrace on September 27 last year.

Police allege a group of men stormed the home at about 9.45pm Friday night armed with a glass bottle and assaulted a 24-year-old man.

Police facts allege they also attempted to kidnap another person — believed to be over stolen steroids — before leaving in a black Holden Commodore.

Police further allege Mr Brindle was involved in the supply of almost 9kg of anabolic steroids.

Court documents detail Mr Brindle allegedly sold the steroids out of his Wamberal home on numerous occasions from May 2018 until January 2020. It also detailed the alleged supply of cocaine and MDMA ‘caps”.

The pair were picked up by police during a vehicle stop at about 5pm yesterday on the Central Coast Highway at West Gosford, where they were arrested.

In Newcastle Local Court on Friday, Sydney lawyer Rabia Sabbagh was set to make a release application for the pair, but Magistrate Brett Shields refused his repeated requests to stand the matter over until later in the day.

“You either apply for bail now or adjourn the matter,” Magistrate Shields said.

But Mr Sabbagh cited he needed further instructions from both clients and was unable to do so unless speaking to them.

Mr Brindle and Ms Cheal both came up via video link, Ms Cheal sobbing uncontrollably, as she was told they would have to wait until Monday to make a bail application at Gosford.

Mr Brindle has been charged with 34 offences including supply commercial quantity of drugs, nine counts of supply drug on an ongoing basis, 20 counts of supply prohibited drug, robbery armed with offensive weapon cause wounding/grievous bodily harm, take/detain person in company with intent to obtain advantage, knowingly deal in proceeds of crime, and knowingly direct activities of criminal group.

Ms Cheal has been charged with charged with armed robbery cause grievous bodily harm, attempt to detain for advantage in company, and attempt to acquire firearm.

Brisbane Water detectives from Strike Force Oldaker commenced investigations into the Hamlyn Terrace robbery and another robbery at Wamberal in September as the result of another investigation into the importation and supply of steroids in Erina and surrounds in October.

Two people, a man and a woman, have previously been charged and remain before the courts.

Further arrests are expected to be made.
