There’s been an outpouring of grief on social media for a Newcastle father, who was soon-to-be a dad of three, that was tragically killed in a horror smash at New Lambton on Monday night.
Tyrone Widders was described as an “absolute pleasure” and a “true gentleman”, as shocked family and friends paid tribute to the 26-year-old.
“I couldn’t fault him in any way, he was like an older brother to me and he will never be forgotten by anyone that knew him,” a friend said on Facebook.
“Rest in peace mate you are a champion and I will miss you.”
A family member also paid tribute: “Rest easy to my beautiful brother, we all love and miss you so much.”
“Life just isn’t fair at all. Don’t party too hard up there, love you so much,” she said.
Police were told he was driving along Lookout Rd at about 6.40pm yesterday when his Ford Falcon crossed over the median strip into oncoming traffic and smashed head on with a ute.
Off-duty hospital staff driving past at the time stopped to help, and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
Tyrone was removed from the wreckage and taken to John Hunter Hospital but died a short time later.
The driver of the ute, a 30-year-old Belmont woman, was also taken to John Hunter Hospital where she was treated for injuries to her foot and wrist.
Police are urging for any witnesses in the crash to come forward as they try to piece together what happened.
A Go Fund Me Page has been set up to pay for Tyrone’s funeral costs.
“Tyrone lost his life last night in an unfortunate, tragic accident,” the organiser said.
“He was an amazing friend, father, brother, son and man.
“Tyrone has left behind 2 beautiful daughters and unborn baby boy.
“He had changed his entire life to assure his children had everything they could possibly need.
“We are trying to raise money for Tyrone so we can assure he has the most perfect send off.”
