Two people killed in separate incidents horror afternoon on Lake Macquarie roads
Two people have been killed in separate motor-vehicle incidents in Lake Macquarie. A number of road closures are in place.

Two people have died in separate crashes in Lake Macquarie on Thursday afternoon.
About 1.30pm, emergency services were called to Freemans Drive, Cooranbong following reports a motorcyclist and a car had collided.
Bystanders conducted CPR on the male motorcycle rider until paramedics arrived at the scene.
The man died a short time later.
A male driver of the vehicle was taken to Wyong Hospital for mandatory testing.
About an hour earlier, emergency services were called to Fishery Point Rd, Morisset after reports a pedestrian was struck by a car.
The collision occurred near a BP service station, which is 500 metres from a retirement village.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and found an elderly man suffering critical injuries. It’s believed a member of the public tried to resuscitate the man but he died at the scene.
A male driver was taken to Wyong Hospital for mandatory testing.
Local residents were shocked by the death, but said it was bound to happen sooner or later with Fishery Point Rd always a haven for speeding drivers.
“It a rat run of a road in the morning,” said a nearby local.
“People speed there all the time and we have reported it to police.”
A report will be prepared for the Coroner for both incidents.
Acting Superintendent David Matthews said a moment of inattention whilst behind the wheel driving a motor vehicle, or while crossing the road, can result in serious injury or death
“Please switch on and be aware that behind the wheel of a motor vehicle there is a lot of responsibility and when it goes wrong, it can go very wrong.
“Anyone that may have dashcam footage or had witnesses either accidents could they please contact Crime Stoppers.”
