Police facts stated Berg transmitted indecent communication to a fictitious recipient - a 14-year-old child - to procure them to engage in sexual activity.

The online activity happened between January 2018 and March 2019 at Lambton, before detectives from Strike Force Trawler arrested Berg.

The maximum penalty for this charge can carry a maximum of seven years in prison.

In Newcastle District Court on Thursday, Berg was sentenced to a two year and three month imprisonment, but that was partially suspended to comply with strict conditions.

He was placed on a good behaviour bond for the period of the sentence handed down and must comply with community correction orders and supervision for as long as required.
