A three month investigation into drug supply around Lake Macquarie has culminated in three people being charged and a quantity of drugs, including gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB) and methylamphetamine being seized.
In July, detectives established Strike Force Birs to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs,
predominately ‘ice’ around the Lake Macquarie region.
Strike Force Raptor North, Lake Macquarie Police and the Police Dog Unit executed search warrants at two homes in Park St in Argenton and Ellesmere St in Booragul on Thursday morning.
Police allegedly located and seized various quantities of drugs, predominantly methylamphetamine and GHB, a slingshot and ammunition.
Two men and a woman were arrested and taken to Belmont police station.
A 25-year-old Barnsley man, arrested at the Ellesmere St address, has been charged with nine offences, including supply prohibited drug on an on-going basis, supply prohibited drug greater than indictable quantity and supply prohibited drug. He was refused bail to face Toronto Local Court today on Friday.
IN OTHER NEWS
A 24-year-old Teralba man was charged with four drug supply offences, while a 27-year-old Argenton woman is facing three charges including possess prohibited weapon and possess prohibited drug.
Both have been granted conditional bail to face Belmont Local Court October 16.
Strike Force Birs continue to investigate.
