Ronald Archer sentenced over possession of almost 100 videos, images of child abuse material

A Newcastle man who went by the online name “bi-newy-guy” was caught out by police in possession of almost 100 videos and images of child abuse material on his computer and iPhone.
Ronald Archer was arrested at his Holmesville home in March and was charged with possession of child abuse material which he pleaded guilty to.
The 49-year-old was sentenced at Toronto Local Court this week and slapped with a two year community corrections order (CCO) and 100 hours of community service.
Archer became the centre of an investigation in May last year after the Australian Federal Police received a report from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children that a man was disseminating child abuse material over the internet.
It related to a user on the social media platform Tumblr.
27 media files were discovered of both male and female prepubescent children in various acts ranging from suggestive posing to sex acts.
One video was a montage of imagery depicting young females undressing or dancing suggestively.
Forensic examination of an iphone also discovered a dropbox application which also contained 46 child abuse videos, and 23 still images dated between 2010 and 2018.
Detectives tracked down Archer from the IP address which was registered to the Tumblr account.
