An alleged peeping Tom, who secretly filmed women while they were showering and getting dressed, has allegedly told police “when you watch too much porn, it gets boring”.

Ryan Oliver, 23, has been charged with nine counts of intentionally recording intimate images without consent.

Police facts allege he preyed on five women, which included his ex-girlfriend and friends, who had stayed with Mr Oliver at his Raymond Terrace home.

Details revealed Mr Oliver is alleged to have filmed different women on several occasions in April and December, 2018 where he set up a mobile phone in the bedroom window as they got out of the shower, dried themselves before getting dressed.

Police facts stated the women eventually spotted the phone and called police but they were unable to find the person responsible.

Mr Oliver is also alleged to have kept a series of videos of one woman, time stamped from August 2017, of her showering, as well as a number of naked photographs of her in her bedroom at Mudgee.

She told police these were intimate photos she had when in a relationship with her partner and was unaware how they had come to allegedly be on Mr Oliver’s phone.

Police facts also allege he videoed another women in the shower, who was staying with him and his then girlfriend, when he resided in Bathurst.

The alleged videos and nude photographs were only discovered when his girlfriend decided to look through Mr Oliver’s room on January 10 this year, after being upset their relationship had ended due to infidelity.

She allegedly found them on his mobile phone within a ‘vault’ application and immediately reported it to police.

Court documents allege when police went to Mr Oliver’s home that same day, he then led them to the rear of the house where he showed them how he had set up the mobile phone on the window ledge to record.

“I stand on this bin and put the phone up here and hit record,” Mr Oliver said according to police facts.

Asked if his ex-girlfriend knew she was being filmed to which he replied, “no, none of them knew. No I didn’t have their consent”.

Asked why, he simply replied, “when you watch too much porn, it gets boring. Personal gratification”.

Police allege they also found several other details of women in Mr Oliver’s notes application and are still attempting to locate one woman who is believed to feature in videos.

In Raymond Terrace Local Court on Tuesday Mr Oliver was unrepresented and told Magistrate Brett Shields he didn’t want legal advice.

“Why?” said Magistrate Shields, “because I’m guilty,” Mr Oliver replied.

He did plead guilty to all nine counts but after eventually seeking legal advice, solicitor Lauren O’Brien said her new client wanted to preserve his plea for a grant of legal aid and two week adjournment to take obstructions.

“I have explained the severity of the charges,” Ms O’Brien told the court.

“He hasn’t been before court before and doesn’t understand the system.”

His matter was adjourned until later this month, with his conditional bail to continue.

Mr Oliver was also issued an apprehended violence order in relation to one of the women.
