Police had to wake man from stolen vehicle, before he was charged
Investigating reports of a stolen vehicle parked at Jesmond, police discovered a man still sitting in the car, wearing gloves and fast asleep at the wheel.

An alleged crook has been caught napping on the job after he fell asleep at the wheel of a stolen vehicle before police rudely woke him.
Just after 7am on Monday, police were investigating reports of a stolen Mazda 3 parked at a residence on Mordue Pde, Jesmond.
To the surprise of plain clothed officers, a man was still sitting in the stolen vehicle, wearing gloves and seated in the driver’s seat fast asleep.
The 21-year-old from Rutherford was woken up and removed by police before being placed under arrest and searched.
Police found three knives, more gloves and a face mask in the man’s pockets.
Inquiries revealed the vehicle was stolen in a break and enter last Friday, October 12, at Kitchener Parade, The Hill.
The 21-year-old man, who was currently on parole and conditional bail, was later charged with enter vehicle without consent, convicted person found with intent to commit indictable offence, possess knife in a public place and breaching conditional bail.
He was due to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Monday.
