NSW detectives extradited a man from SA over alleged sexual and indecent assault of Hunter girls

Police have extradited a South Australia man over the alleged sexual and indecent assault of two young girls in the Hunter region.
The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation in December last year after reports a girl had been sexually assaulted by a man known to her while she was in his care.
With help from South Australian police, a 60-year-old man was arrested at Port Pirie on Monday, before he was extradited to NSW by detectives on Wednesday.
He was flown to Sydney and charged at Mascot police station with two counts of aggravated sexual assault – victim under authority of offender, and indecent assault person under 16 years of age.
Police will allege in court that the man sexually assaulted a girl – aged between seven and eight – on two occasions in the Hunter region.
It will be further alleged that the man indecently assaulted a second girl – aged between nine and 10 – in the Hunter region.
He was refused bail at Central Local Court on Wednesday and will re-appear at Newcastle Local Court on Thursday.
