Minmi: Two men arrested over drugs, cash after police pursuit on foot

Police will allege they seized drugs, cash and prescription medication from two men after a short chase on foot in Minmi.

Police have allegedly seized drugs, cash and prescription medication after a foot chase near Minmi.

Northern Region enforcement squad officers, together with the northern high-visibility team, arrived at a Woodford St home on Tuesday morning “as part of ongoing inquiries”, police said.

They allege a 39-year-old man, who was seated in a vehicle nearby, fled on foot.

He was arrested a short distance away before a search of his backpack allegedly uncovered an amount of methylamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, cash, buprenorphine and prescription medication.

A second man, 30, was arrested inside the Woodford Street home.

The younger man was charged over an outstanding warrant for a driving offence and 46 other unrelated drug offences.

He was refused bail in Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday to reappear on December 9.

The older man was charged with three counts of supplying a prohibited drug, three counts of possessing a prohibited drug and one count of goods in custody.

He was due to appear in Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday.
