Man charged after police allege he kicked in and smashed the door at Cessnock Council
Police allege a man threw items at the door of the Vincent St building before he kicked in the door, and smashed the glass to gain access.

Cessnock Council have been left to clean up the mess after a break in on the weekend which saw a glass door smashed in and damage to the foyer area.
A man was charged after allegedly kicking in and smashing a glass door at the government building in Cessnock on Saturday evening.
Police allege he threw items at the door of the Cessnock Council building on Vincent St, before he allegedly kicked in, shattered and smashed the glass door.
Once inside the building, police allege he caused minor damage in the foyer before leaving.
Less than an hour later Hunter Valley Police located a 39-year-old man in a supermarket car park. He put up a struggle but was eventually arrested.
The man has been charged with break and enter, destroy/damage property and resisting arrest.
He’s been refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Monday.
Cessnock City Council’s General Manager, Lotta Jackson said she was disappointed with what happened over the weekend.
“It is always disappointing when something like this happens, but thankfully nobody was hurt and nothing was taken from the premises,” she said.
“We encourage anyone who saw anything or would like to know more about the incident to contact the Police.”
