An elderly man has suffered injuries to his face and arms during a violent home robbery at Raymond Terrace on the weekend.
The 72-year-old, who neighbours say kept to himself, was at his home on Brown street around 10pm Saturday night, when two unknown men approached the front door.
A short time later, two men broke into his house and threatened the elderly man before assaulting him, stealing property and fleeing the scene.
Police are unsure whether the two offenders were the same two men who had approached the man’s home earlier.
He was taken to John Hunter Hospital and treated for minor injuries to his face and arms.
Investigations are also ongoing as to whether a previous robbery at the same address a week earlier was linked.
A next door neighbour told The Newcastle News they didn’t hear anything at the time of the incident and hadn’t talked to the elderly man since the attack as he usually ‘kept to himself’.
