A popular Newcastle boxer - who posted a skit to social media on ‘how to escape a drug bust’ - is facing a charge of driving with illicit drugs.
Kyron ‘Hitman’ Dryden, the IBO world youth champion, was allegedly caught by police on March 8 at around 10.30pm in Newcastle driving with cocaine and MDMA in his system.
The charge was listed at Newcastle Local Court on Thursday for mention, but an adjournment was sought through email.
A plea in the matter is expected on the next occasion.
In June, the 27-year-old - who has a massive social media following of close to 700,000 people on Facebook - posted a comical skit with himself and someone impersonating a police officer.
It showed Dryden with a white powder on his face as the cop asked him a number of questions, including what was in the boot.
“Might be some Coke,” he said in the video, before the officer pulled out cans of the drink Coca Cola.
The video was titled, ‘How to escape a drug bust’.
He will be back in court in November.
In 2016, Dryden was found guilty of grabbing his ex-girlfriend, Tori-Lee Hillery, by the throat, pushing her head into a mirror and slamming her onto the floor after he discovered her at another man‘s house.
He then called her a “stupid slut” in a video posted on Snapchat showing her lying on the bedroom floor.
He was given a four month intensive corrections order (ICO) and community service hours.
