Jesmond stabbing: Police appeal for information after violent home invasion

Police have appealed for a “stocky” man who was seen getting into a car near the scene of a Jesmond stabbing to come forward. Police believe he may be able to assist with inquiries into the home invasion.

Detectives investigating a violent Jesmond home invasion where a resident was stabbed multiple times have pleaded for information about a man leaving the scene with his face covered.

Emergency services were called to a Blue Gum Road unit about 10.30pm on July 15 following reports of the stabbing.

Police found a man, 29, with multiple stab wounds.

He was rushed to John Hunter Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Investigators have now made a public plea for information about a man “who may be able to assist”.

He was described as being of caucasian appearance, between 170cm and 175cm tall and with a stocky build.

He was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered.

Police said it was believed the man left in a vehicle, described only as a light-coloured four-door sedan which was waiting nearby.

Newcastle City detectives have asked for any information, including anyone with dashcam or CCTV between 10pm and 11pm on July 15, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
