A man, who police alleged helped to cover-up the brutal murder of Lake Macquarie woman Danielle Easey, uttered words of remorse to the family as they waited for him to exit Belmont Local Court on Wednesday.

“I’m sorry, I was protecting my own life,” Jeremy Princehorn, 37, said as he was heckled and confronted by distraught and angry family members and friends

“It’s only a matter of time mate,” one person yelled at him as he swiftly left the courthouse.

In December, Princehorn was arrested at a home in Cardiff and was charged with concealing a serious indictable offence over Easey’s death.

Represented by solicitor Mark Hanlon, Princehorn’s bail was continued by Magistrate Roger Clisdell, with his matter adjourned until March 11 to be referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Family members told The Newcastle News they had never seen Princehorn before and didn’t know him.

Police allege he helped friend Justin Dilosa burn a knife and hammer Dilosa had allegedly used to murder Ms Easey at a Narara home on or about August 17.

For several hours, forensic detectives sifted through the ashes of a backyard fire at Cardiff where police allege the weapons were destroyed.

The Cardiff home is also where a Mitsubishi Delica was seized when Dilosa, 33, and his ex-girlfriend, Carol Dawson McHenry, 32, were arrested over Ms Easey’s death in September.

Detectives allege Dilosa murdered Ms Easey at the Central Coast address before transporting her remains around in a makeshift coffin inside the van for a period of time.

Court documents revealed her body, wrapped tightly in black plastic, was dumped in Cockle Creek, near Wakefield Rd, Killingworth where it was found by a passing motorist on August 31.

McHenry is charged with being an accessory after the fact after allegedly telling police she woke to see Dilosa stab and bash Ms Easey.

Both are in custody and remain before the courts.
