Hunter Region: Former foster carer charged over alleged historical indecent and sexual assault, two young girls
A Hunter man has been accused of the historical indecent and sexual assault of two young girls between 2002 and 2004.

A former foster carer has been charged with 20 child sex offences related to the alleged historical indecent and sexual assault of two young girls in the Hunter Region.
Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad started an investigation in September last year following reports two young girls were indecently and sexual assaulted by a man while they were in his care.
In March, police arrested a 65-year-old man - who cannot be named for legal reasons - at Raymond Terrace Police Station.
Police allege the man indecently and sexually assaulted the girls – then aged between eight and 11 – on several occasions between 2002 and 2004.
Court documents allege the man had sex with one of the girls on six occasions between July 2003 and May 2004.
He was charged with three counts of indecent assault - victim under the age of 10 years, five counts of incite aggravated indecency – victim under 16 years and under authority of offender, five counts of aggravated indecent assault – victim under the age of 16 years and six counts aggravated sexual intercourse – victim between 10 and 14 years.
An additional charge of aggravated indecent assault relates to an alleged incident with one of the girls between December 1998 and December 2007.
In Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday, the matter was briefly mentioned.
The prosecution said the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) wanted to adjourn the matter for further brief status.
The man’s matter has been adjourned until June at Newcastle Local Court.
