Heatherbrae: Man jumps out window to evade police, allegedly has 1kg of cocaine in his pants

The 31-year-old man allegedly tried to jump out a window and flee from police, but they caught up with him and discovered a large bulge in his pants. They removed it and it was alleged 1kg of cocaine.

A man who jumped out of a window in an attempt to evade police, has allegedly been found with a kilogram of cocaine hidden in his pants.

The 31-year-old was arrested by officers from the Northern Region Domestic Violence High-Risk Offender team and the Port Stephens-Hunter Proactive Crime Team at about 12.30pm on Wednesday, allegedly fleeing from an industrial shed on Giggins Rd at Heatherbrae.

Police noticed a large package bulging from the man’s shorts. They removed it and it was found to be cocaine, which will be sent for forensic examination.

Officers set up a crime scene was established and searched the industrial property, where police seized motorcycles, a car, methylamphetamine, cash, mobile phones and knuckle dusters.

The man’s arrest followed earlier reports of a domestic-violence related incident at a home in East Maitland on September 5, which police attended.

Upon arrival, they spoke with a 30-year-old woman.

A search of the home allegedly uncovered cannabis, methylamphetamine, steroids, cocaine, and more than $20,000 cash.

The 31-year-old was taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station and charged with five offences including supply large commercial quantity prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug, attempt stalk intimidate intend fear of harm and deal with proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear at Maitland Local Court on Thursday.

Investigations continue. Further charges are expected to be laid.
