Freemans Waterhole, M1: Man has died after car rolled down an embankment

Lake Macquarie Police have established a crime scene after the driver of a vehicle was killed when his car lost control and rolled down an embankment at Freemans Waterhole on Tuesday morning.

A man has died after a car lost control and rolled down an embankment in the Lake Macquarie region early Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to the M1, near Palmers Rd, at Freemans Waterhole at about 5.15am following reports a vehicle had left the road.

The driver of the vehicle was deceased when police arrived.

Lake Macquarie Police established a crime scene and investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Any witnesses or anyone with dash cam vision is urged to come forward.

Traffic diversions currently remain in place.
