A former Hunter Marist Brother has been charged with historical indecent assault offences.
Francis William Cable, now 88, known as Brother Romuald, was arrested at Silverwater prison on Monday and charged with three counts of indecent assault, allegedly committed in the Newcastle region against a boy in the early 1970s.
In 2012, detectives from Strike Force Georgiana commenced investigations into alleged child indecent assaults.
Cable didn’t make an appearance via video link at Newcastle Local Court on Thursday.
His matter was briefly mentioned with an email from his lawyer asking to adjourn until next month.
