Get excited Lake Macquarie foodies, a dynamic new food and entertainment precinct is set to be open just before Christmas.

At $10 million, The Corner at Charlestown will arrive just as summer hits and alfresco-type dining is at its best.

Located at the intersection of Pearson and Ridley streets, The Corner will bring together independent Newcastle food producers and boutique brands and a revolving door of local music talent for a fresh vibe.

The new hangout offers all day dining, casual communal eats, sunny sociable atmosphere and big flavoured foods.

“It’s going to be a bit of a game changer for the Lake Macquarie region,” Mardi Ashkine, Precinct Manager of The Corner said.

“We’re building this amazing precinct and food is the hero, there’s some beautiful place making elements in art landscaping and lighting but we’re bringing some of the best of the local CBD operators out to Charlestown.”

Not just about the food, it’s also celebrating the creative industry, with local art and music.

“We have an ongoing schedule of programming, so what we’re looking to achieve is regular entertainment from Friday after work drinks right through to Sunday evening,” she said.

“The space is really designed to be a vibrant hub that is very inclusive of where the community comes together.

“There is a huge common space that will be a stage, seating and it’ll have grass where people can sit and enjoy the sunshine, have a beer, grab an ice-cream, it is very multiple purpose.”
