Cooranbong man pleads not guilty on all charges of sexual abuse of a five-year-old girl in the Hunter

A 45-year-old man appeared at Toronto Local Court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to all charges against him over the alleged sexual abuse of a five-year-old girl in the Hunter.

A man charged over the alleged sexual abuse of a five-year-old girl in the Hunter region has pleaded not guilty on all charges at Toronto Local Court on Tuesday.

The 45-year-old appeared via video link from Shortland Correctional Centre where his solicitor told Magistrate Alex Mijovich she was instructed to enter pleas of not guilty.

The court heard the matter was now referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), which is set to call on five witnesses and view CCTV footage.

In August, the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced investigations following reports a young girl had been sexually abused.

It led to the arrest of the 45-year-old at a home in Cooranbong on October 10.

He’s facing numerous charges including intentionally carry out sexual act with child under 10 years, intentionally incite child under 10 years to do sexual act to them, and intentionally sexually touch child under 10 years.

No bail was applied for and it was formally refused, adjourned to February next year at Toronto.
