Police searching for a suspect who allegedly rammed a police vehicle during a pursuit in Lake Macquarie have located a second man who was reported to have been taken during a subsequent carjacking.
Officers continue to search for the suspect, Adam Gilham, who escaped after allegedly ramming a Mercedes into the police vehicle on Fishery Point Rd at Bonnells Bay about 2.30pm on Monday.
A police helicopter and the dog squad had joined Lake Macquarie police in searching for the car.
Police had feared a Toyota HiLux had been carjacked with its driver still inside. But later found the driver and car safe and are now not treating it as an abduction. He told police he last saw Gilham near the old Morisset golf club about 3pm.
Police have now located the man wearing the hi-vis gear and are speaking with him.
