A dog has been left injured after it was allegedly kicked in a cowardly attack in a Glenbrook backyard last week.
Police said a neighbour reported hearing a “squealing and howling” noise coming from a backyard on Grey St sometime between 9am and 9.30am last Thursday.
The neighbour also reported seeing a woman walking past with her dog while looking into the yard of the injured dog.
Police believe the dog was kicked during the attack.
A police spokesman they weren’t sure at this stage whether the attack was done by someone who entered the backyard illegally or had access.
“We’re just appealing for anyone who may have seen anyone in the vicinity at the time,” he said.
“The injuries aren’t consistent with being attacked by an animal which is why we’re looking for witnesses.”
The dog, similar to a brown-and-white border collie, has noticeable injuries to her right side including a large cut.
The police spokesman said the dog had been treated by the vet and was recovering.
Police are calling for anyone who may have witnessed the attack to contact Springwood police station on 4751 0299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
