Coronavirus: Nepean Blue Mountains cases hit 72 people
The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District has confirmed the region now has more than 70 confirmed coronavirus cases as the government announces a string of strict new social distancing measures.

The number of cases of COVID-19 in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District has jumped past 70.
This comes as the government announces a string of strict new social distancing measures.
NSW Health figures show the local health district had 72 confirmed coronavirus cases at 8pm Saturday, jumping from 50 confirmed cases at 8pm last Wednesday including “one to four” locally acquired COVID-19 cases with an unknown source of infection.
The Penrith and Blue Mountains local government areas had 44 and 15 coronavirus cases respectively at 8pm Saturday.
The Hawkesbury LGA had 19, while in Lithgow there were one to four cases recorded for the same period.
There have been 5050 tests conducted in the local health district as at 8pm on Saturday — up from 4147 at 8pm on Wednesday.
Of those, 1.55 per cent have returned positive results, representing 19.95 cases for every 100,000 residents in the local health district.
Nepean has the eighth-highest number of confirmed cases of the state’s total 15 local health districts with Far West the only NSW local health district to not record a case, to date.
As at 6am today, there have been 4093 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Australia.
Of the confirmed cases, 16 have died from COVID-19.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Sunday that the National Cabinet had revised its 10-person limit on public gatherings to a new limit of two people with the exception of households.
He urged people aged 70 and over to stay at home, unless they are going outside for exercise or fresh air.
For those feeling unwell, four COVID-19 testing clinics are open in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
Three are open seven days, at Katoomba Hospital (9am to 5pm), Lithgow Hospital (10am to 3pm) and Nepean Hospital (10.30am to 6.30pm).
A mobile van clinic is operating 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday at Hawkesbury Hospital.
These clinics are for people who have: cold/flu-like symptoms AND returned from overseas travel in the past 14 days; or cold/flu-like symptoms AND had direct contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
Coronavirus clinics are accessed from outside the hospitals.
