The former St Columbus Catholic College student honed her early AFL skills with the Glenmore Park club at Emu Plains but was a late starter in the sport.
“I’ve been playing since I was 13. I would have played earlier but my mother just thought it was a phase I was going through,” said Tarrant, who more recently played with the East Coast Eagles based in The Hills.
“A thing came up at my club at Emu Plains and mum though, let’s get her out of this phase. It was a Come and Try day. I loved it and I then played at Glenmore Park for two years when I got too old.”
This season Tarrant had been training with the GWS Giants and competed for NSW at the u18s AFLW Australian championships in July.
She has started pre-season training with her new Melbourne club after relocating and moving in with extended family.
“I’m a bit nervous at the moment, it’s a new start but its going to be really refreshing,’’ she said.
