Abbas Hassani, 64, faces court on dangerous driving charges
A man who allegedly hit and killed a cyclist while riding on a busy stretch of road in the Blue Mountains has fronted a court on dangerous driving charges.

A man who police allege hit and killed a cyclist in Springwood on Saturday has faced court.
Abbas Hassani, 64, faced Dubbo Local Court on Monday charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, and not driving in lane on a multi-lane road.
Hassani was arrested in Lithgow at about 10.40pm on Sunday following the crash on the Great Western Highway, Springwood, at about 2.30pm on Saturday.
A 45-year-old man was rushed to Westmead Hospital with serious injuries, while Hassani was taken to Nepean Hospital for mandatory testing.
The cyclist later died of his injuries.
Hassani faced a registrar at Dubbo Local Court on Monday, and made an application for bail.
The prosecution had concerns that Hassani would try to flee the area given the seriousness of the charges, however the registrar granted him strict conditional bail.
Hassani must live at a Lithgow address and report to Lithgow police station daily between 8am and 8pm.
He was ordered to surrender his passport to the court and is barred from any international airport or any other point of departure from Australia.
In addition, he must not occupy the driver’s seat of any motor vehicle, and must pay a surety of $10,000 that will be forfeited if he breaches his bail.
Hassani will next appear in Penrith Local Court on June 25.
