SAVANNAH Dargan has been dancing since she was three and her rapid rise has led her to compete on the national stage.
She’s this week’s Local Sports stars nominee thanks to her form against some of the best young dancers in the country.
This year Savannah, 8, is enrolled into 13 different classes, including junior elite show group, ballet, acrobats, jazz, tap, hip hop, technique/conditioning, tumbling, cheer squad, cheer pom squad, rad ballet, musical theatre and aerial.
“Cheerleading is my favourite,” she said. “I want to be a cheerleader for the Raiders one day because my aunty goes for them.”
While competing against other dance schools from around the country, Savannah’s joined the mini cheer squad at the World Cup Cheer and is about to try out for the dance sport team at her school.
She’ll also be dancing with static dance studios aboard the Royal Caribbean Voyager cruise ship in December.
“I like dancing because I make a lot of friends and I enjoy being on stage,” she said. “I feel happy when I’m dancing.”
There are five categories to nominate people in: Junior Sports Star Individual, Junior Sports Star Team, Young Sporting Spirit Individual, Young Sporting Star Team and Service to Sport.
