Baseball player Shannon Ward-Underhill is this week’s Local Sports Stars nominee following his efforts at the Australian champs.

PLUMPTON baseball player Shannon Ward-Underhill is this week’s Local Sports Stars nominee following his efforts for Greater Western Baseball Association’s Senior League Division team.
The shortstop was the star player as his side went above and beyond expectations at the Australian Championships, winning four of their seven games.
Ward-Underhill has also represented NSW and New Zealand and is already dreaming big.
“It’s been a good start to the winter season,” he said.
“I prefer batting and I’m more of a contact hitter. I try and get to first base.
“I want to go to college in America one day.”
The Hills Sports High student, 16, can also pitch and is a New York Yankees fan.
The Local Sports Stars program is searching for outstanding athletes aged under 18, as well as those that love and contribute to making sport a great experience for everyone.
There are five categories to nominate people in: Junior Sports Star Individual, Junior Sports Star Team, Young Sporting Spirit Individual, Young Sporting Star Team and Service to Sport. Visit localsportstsar.com.au
