KEIYNAN Lonsdale is living every boys’ own adventure.
The St Marys actor is a .superhero. For real.
The 24-year-old, who played “ordinary powerless teenager” Wally West in the first two series of Warner Bros cable TV show The Flash, has seen his character morph into superhero Kid Flash in the first episode of season 3, which aired on Fox8 last week.
Flashpoint introduces the meta-speedy DC Comics action hero.
Lonsdale admitted the transformation was a bit difficult.
“I love my (superhero) suit, but it’s not comfortable,” he told The Standard from the United States.
“It’s definitely flexible and I can move around in it a lot, which is great, but it can get extremely hot; it’s leather. and it’s very tight.”
Growing up. Lonsdale said he had wanted to be Michael Jackson or Goku from Dragon Ball Z, but actually playing a superhero felt a bit “make-believe”.
“I feel like a kid whose friends are all playing along with a fun game,” he said.
While Lonsdale’s fame has snowballed, he says it can be difficult being so far from his family.
“It is hard, but it’s something I’ve had to deal with,” he said. “I flew my mum out for Christmas last year and I’ll likely come home for Christmas this year.”
His advice to aspiring actors is: “Continue to learn. That’s something we all have to do for the rest of our careers and our lives.”
Lonsdale grew up in St Marys and starred in Australian TV and films before his career took an international turn in 2014 when he appeared in the Divergent series movies Insurgent and Allegiant and The Finest Hours alongside Casey Affleck.
Lonsdale made his cable TV debut last year after landing the role in the series as Wally West, the nephew of Barry Allen/The Flash’s love interest.
