A woman, 65, has been charged with stabbing her 67-year-old husband during a domestic dispute in southern Lake Macquarie,
Linda Jane Bagnall has been charged with the domestic violence-related count of cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder (DV).
Police said emergency services were called to a home on Wyee Rd, Wyee about 11.20pm following reports of a domestic incident.
“Officers arrived at the location and found a 67-year-old man with head injuries and a stab wound to his torso,” police said in a statement.
“He was taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.”
Lake Macquarie police established a crime scene before the wife was arrested a short time later and taken to Toronto police station.
Bagnall briefly appeared in Toronto Local Court on Tuesday where she was not required to enter a plea and did not apply for bail.
Magistrate Peter Barnett formally remanded Bagnall in custody and adjourned the matter to Newcastle on July 17.
