A man is facing gun charges after police allegedly discovered a golden sawn-off shotgun in the ceiling of a Lake Macquarie home during a search warrant.

It was the alleged discovery with a golden touch.
Investigations into some stealing and fraud offences across the northern edge of Lake Macquarie led police to a ceiling cavity in the roof of a nondescript Argenton home early on Wednesday night.
Allegedly inside that cavity was a glittering sawn-off shotgun and two shotgun cartridges.
The discovery followed the arrest of William Rogan, 36, at Boolaroo earlier in the afternoon.
Police allege Rogan was found in possession of stolen groceries and a prescribed restricted substance on him.
The arrest led them to raiding a McLaughlin St home where the shotgun was allegedly located.
Rogan was later charged with one count each of possessing a shortened firearm, possessing ammunition without a license, not keeping firearm safely, possessing a prescribed restricted substance, goods in custody, larceny and dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception.
He briefly faced Newcastle bail court on Thursday before the matters were heard in Toronto Local Court on Friday.
Rogan was granted conditional bail to attend a program and will face court again in May.
