His predatory and abusive behaviour began more than four decades ago when he was just a teenager.

Former Belmont man and hospitality professional Warren John McCorriston - now 59 - stalked his first victim when she was just 17, as he grabbed her from behind walking to the train station in Newcastle.

His infatuation with her persisted, weeks later McCorriston delivered a single red rose to her place of work before he tracked down where she lived, according to police facts.

It was then while she was at a concert with friends at Redhead beach, he grabbed her from behind in the water, as she kicked and struggled her bikini top came off. He eventually fled and she never saw him again.

Police facts said his next victim was a year later in 1981. He sat down next to a woman at Newcastle beach as she was listening to music.

A week later the pair starting dating. He was “smooth and attentive”.

But just four months later when they had moved in together, the violence and sexual abuse began.

Police facts detailed how McCorriston would rape his girlfriend on numerous occasions, forcing himself on her as she tried to fight him off.

On one occasion he bit her twice on the back, another he punched her in the face. His rage was out of control.

“You deserve to be punished, you deserve to suffer,” he yelled at her according to police facts.

When the woman moved to Queensland for a job, he tracked her down, but was later arrested for a stolen car and was extradited back to NSW, according to court documents.

His third victim probably the most shocking, he met the 28-year-old at a disco at the Gosford Bowling Club where the two formed a close relationship.

Despite being jailed for stealing a car in Queensland, the two kept in touch and when he was released they started dating, according to police facts.

But their relationship soon turned toxic as McCorriston would forcably have sex with her, assault her and on one occasion he threatened her with a knife.

Another frightening time was when he grabbed her by the throat and she couldn’t breath.

Police facts revealed McCorriston’s two sides, the nice guy who would buy her gifts, and the abusive guy who would explode before he sexually assaulted her.

In January last year, McCorriston was arrested on the Gold Coast and was charged with 28 offences relating to the historic indecent assault and rapes of three Hunter women between 1980 and 1999.

In December, McCorriston pleaded guilty to five charges — involving all women — with five more charges set to be taken into account on sentencing.

The guilty pleas included inflict actual bodily harm with intent to have sexual intercourse with a victim, sexual assault inflict actual bodily harm, sexual assault knowing no consent given, maliciously inflict actual bodily harm and common assault.

A charge of detain for advantage where police allege McCorriston abducted a 10-year-old girl from her mother in 1979 at Blacksmiths had been dropped.

17 other charges were also dismissed including sexual assault, attempt to choke and strangle a victim, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.

In Newcastle District Court last week, a sentence date was fixed for May 21, with an estimation of two to three hours, where McCorriston is set to appear in person.

The hospitality professional, who worked at some of Queensland’s premier hotels including Mantra Legends Hotel and Daydream Island Resort and Spa as well as Sydney’s Star City, was arrested at Surfers Paradise by Strike Force Arapaima in January.
