A woman has been shot in the leg and her partner in the arm after being targeted in a pre-dawn attack inside their Lake Macquarie home. Here is what we know.

A couple have been rushed to hospital after surviving an early morning shooting inside their own Lake Macquarie home.
Detectives are hunting a man and woman who arrived at the Cassia Cres, Gateshead home about 2.20am on Thursday armed with a rifle.
A crime scene was established along parts of the suburban road after the emergency services found the pair injured inside the weatherboard home.
The man, 42, suffered a bullet wound to an arm and his 32-year-old partner was shot in a leg.
But were treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to John Hunter Hospital for emergency treatment.
Both have been listed in a stable condition and their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Detectives will delve into possible motives.
A neighbour, who did not wish to be identified, said she was “shocked” by the shooting so close to home.
“We found out when police came knocking on our door not long after. It is just frightening,” she said.
Although a pram was parked in the front yard of the single-storey residence, it was understood there were no children inside the home at the time.
Forensic experts spent almost 12 hours at the scene gathering evidence before Cassia Cres was reopened to traffic.
Police remain at the scene and the investigation was continuing on Thursday afternoon.
