Three charged over two separate police pursuits at Lake Macquarie
A trio - including a man wanted on three outstanding warrants - have been charged over two separate police pursuits in Lake Macquarie and the alleged theft of copper wiring.

A trio - including a man wanted by police for a multitude of offences dating back to 2021 - have been charged over two separate police pursuits in Lake Macquarie and the alleged theft of copper wiring.
At about 4:40pm on Thursday, officers attached to the Lake Macquarie Police District’s Proactive Crime Team, attempted to stop a Ford sedan travelling in the Morisset area before engaging in a pursuit.
The alleged chase weaved through the suburb of Wyee before the vehicle smashed into another vehicle on the Pacific Highway.
A man aged 26, and a woman passenger, aged 29, allegedly fled on foot into bushland before being located shortly after and arrested by police.
Police searched the vehicle and uncovered a large amount of copper wiring, which they allege was stolen from a recent break and enter at a telecommunications facility at Dora Creek.
Further inquiries also led officers to a house at Doyalson where a 39-year-old also allegedly tried to evade police.
Police say the man jumped into a Suzuki sedan and another pursuit was initiated before road spikes were deployed at Cragan Bay.
That resulted in the vehicle crashing into trees and the driver fleeing into bushland before being arrested a short time later, police claim.
All three were taken to Belmont Police Station where they were charged.
The 26-year-old man is facing eight offences including police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive whilst disqualified, enter enclosed lands without lawful excuse, throw object at vehicle – risk safety, hinder police, two counts of possess prohibited drug and not give particulars.
He was also charged with three outstanding warrants linked to more than 30 alleged offences dating back to 2021.
The 39-year-old man was also charged with 26 offences including seven counts of police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously in relation to a string of pursuits over the past few weeks.
His charges also relate to the alleged theft of a motor vehicle and caravan from Dora Creek and the alleged theft of batteries and copper cabling from a telecommunications facility at Dora Creek on January 4.
Both are set to appear at Belmont Local Court on Friday after being refused bail.
The 29-year-old woman was charged with two drug-related offences and was granted conditional bail to appear at Belmont Local Court later this month.
