A teenager has been hit with a raft of driving charges after an alleged burnout-gone-wrong ended with him being bashed and another six others - including two young girls - being injured.

A teenager allegedly responsible for a burnout gone wrong has been hit with a raft of driving charges after the incident landed him and six others - including two girls - in hospital.
Crash investigators spoke with the 18-year-old after he was discharged from John Hunter Hospital on Monday before charging him with six offences, including two counts of causing bodily harm by misconduct in charge of a motor vehicle and one charge each of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and driving recklessly, furiously or dangerously.
The teenager, whose licence has been suspended, also faces charges of not wearing a seatbelt and using a light vehicle while not complying with a tyres standard.
Emergency services were called to an old industrial estate at Abermain, in the Lower Hunter, just after midnight on Sunday after reports a sedan had hit two parked cars and a group of people.
It is alleged the driver was performing a “burnout” before losing control of his car.
Six people and the driver were treated at the scene, including an eight-year-old girl who remained in hospital on Monday with suspected internal injuries and another girl, 10, who was treated in hospital for minor injuries and released.
Two women, aged 25 and 31, also remain in hospital, with the older woman being treated for a head injury.
Two men, aged 24 and 25, were also taken to hospital; the younger man has a fractured leg while the older man was treated for a foot injury and released.
The teenage driver was treated for facial injuries after allegedly being bashed by a group of people who had been watching the burnouts.
He was issued a court attendance notice to face Kurri Kurri Local Court on April 29.
Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
