Firies rescue puppy in Lake Macquarie

In what was a lucky day for one adventurous puppy, firies were able to save the small canine after it fell down a sewer pipe in Lake Macquarie.

Fire and Rescue NSW were called to a home in Northcote Avenue, Swansea Heights, at around 1pm on Friday.

There firefighters found the pet Cavoodle stuck inside the narrow sewer pipe, after falling about 1.5 metres.

A video shows crews carefully get the little black puppy to safety after they deployed an ‘animal catch pole’.

They were able to gently tighten the cable loop around the puppy’s midriff to secure the canine, get it around a bend in the pipe, before lifting it to safety.

The dog can be heard letting out a small yelp before being rescued and lifted into the arms of a firefighter and its relieved owner.

“Oh look at you,” the owner can be heard saying.

The rescue mission was completed in less than half an hour. A definite win for the day.
